Wall-Mounted TV Information

Benefits of a Wall-Mounted TV:

  • A TV that’s mounted to the wall is the most space-saving option  –  Why take up valuable floor space with a huge entertainment center.  If you wall-mount your TV, then all you need is a small cabinet close by for your audio and video components.  TV Wall Mount Installation with ShelvesIf you’re looking for the cleanest-looking setup you could even add some shelves for your A/V components too!
  • Wall-mounted TVs look good!  –  We were told 30 years ago that in the future we would hang our TVs on the walls of our homes.  The future is here…  so why would you not mount your flat TV to the wall?
  • Safety considerations  –  Having your TV sitting on an entertainment center might seem like the easiest solution, but having that heavy expensive unit within reach of children or even teenagers also means it can be tipped over or damaged that much easier.
  • Adjustability  –  Wall mounts come with various options that allow the TV to be tilted to the correct angle depending upon the seating in the room.  Some mounts also allow the TV to be swung away from the wall and turned from side to side.

Before you buy

Here are some considerations prior to purchasing:

  • TV wall mounts come in a variety of shapes and sizes  –  Make sure to know your TV size and weight.  Larger sets require larger mounts.  Do you want the TV to mount flat or tilt?  Perhaps you’ll want to be able to swing the TV to one side for viewing from another part of the room.  Choose the options that fit your needs.
  • What else will I need?  –  All Flat screen TV mounts come with basic fasteners for mounting to an interior drywall surface – other wall materials may require additional hardware.  Additionally, don’t forget wires and cables for the connections to your other A/V components:  DVD player/Cable Box.
  • How much will it cost?  –  Flat screen TV mounts typically start around $50.  Larger mounts having more options can cost up to $200 or more.

Other Considerations:

  • Hide the wires  –  Attaching your beautiful new TV to the wall, and still having all the wires and cables hanging from the bottom of it kind of defeats the aesthetics of a wall-mount TV installation.  While I’m mounting the TV to the wall, I can also hide or completely conceal the wiring.  Through walls, inside closets, behind cabinets and bookcases.  Usually, if you can think of it, I can make it happen for you!
